In August of 2012 I had ACL reconstruction surgery on my right knee after having torn my ACL about a decade ago after being rather rudely checked into the side of a barn by a very tempermental Welsh Pony. The recovery has been slow going. I want to get back into my pre-surgery shape and then some. Right now, I'm battling patellar tendonitis like it's my job and I'm losing horribly.
Not too long after that, I started having problems with syncope after or during exercise. So, to the doctor's I went, only to be diagnosed with NCS (Neuro cardiogenic syncope) with seizure activity. Another one of my goals: re-training my body to handle running and harder exercise.
I'm hoping that this new year will bring some major changes to my lifestyle: more activity, better eating habits, a little weight lost.
My focus isn't really the number on the scale but rather my ability to feel like I'm making progress. I'm starting this journey not so much as a weight loss challenge but as a way to prove to myself that I can make changes and stick with them. I want to use this opportunity to harden my willpower and to prove that I can accomplish something with follow-through and persistence.
