Reborn of a Carpet

Well, this is going to sound funny, but, actually, this is to help a friend.  She's an architect and I know her because my husband is an architect too.  My husband has a firm and is space planning and constructing since 1983, 30 years almost!  I am a graphic designer and I actually work ein my husband's firm.  My job is to make presentations for new and current clients on what ever is needed.  I see the web page as well and are in constant renewal of material information; new materials etc.  We buy carpets, false ceiling and many other things from this friend.  She's been selling carpets etc., for as many years as we have work in the firm.

She has now a brand which has been many years in the market.  By the way, I live in Mexico City and this is happening here as well.  This company was with another brand for meny years.  Now it's by itself.  But it is carring the image that was buildt before, which is not good.  Everybody know it as a common and cheap carpet, when in reality, it is not.  It does have a wide range of prices.  It might not be the first to have the edgy design but it has a pretty good variety and high standards.  The company has a commercial point of view and because of this, it is a huge company.  the thing is that in Mexico it has a low reputation.  Or the wrong reputation.

They now have a carpet with 7 points LEED.  This is because instead of an 100% nylon carpet, they made a 63% nyon and 37% of renewable resources, from corn.

Why Is SmartStrand Environmentally Smart?
SmartStrand carpet is made with DuPont Sorona renewably sourced polymer, which is made in part from actual corn—the same kind you grow in your garden. It also uses less energy to produce. It marks the first time that a luxuriously soft carpet offers durability and stain protection, while also making less of an environmental impact. From field to floor, SmartStrand carpet is the perfect solution to life’s unpredictable moments and environmental concerns.

37% of Sorona is made from renewable resources instead of more limited petroleum ingredients
The production of Sorona® polymer requires 30 percent less energy than the production of an equal amount of nylon
Production of seven square yards of 40-ounce SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona carpet saves enough energy to equal one gallon of gasoline
Production of SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona emits 63% less greenhouse gas*
All environmental claims are certified in writing
* As compared to production of nylon

As a strategy, we came with the idea of inviting the clients, architecte firms as well, to an air ballon trip over a corn field.  We need to work on details but, make a "corn event".  Give a meal with different meals prepared with corn.  We have many dishes in Mexico with corn!  So from starters to dessert we can use corn recepies. Tamales, esquites, crepas huitlacoche, a mushroom from corn, corn bread, etc.

Also as a sovenir we though of giving away a nativity scene or manger made with corn husks.  In short, relate everything to corn due to the fact that from corn the new fiber is possible.

Make the place for lunch near the field.  It says that from the field to floor this carpet comes, so, make an area with this transcition and use it to have lunch in.

Now...  for my personal firm, space planning architecture and construction, I have NO ideas!  I'm drained!  I will keep thinking about it though.  It seams to me much more complex with what we do.  We do everything, from initial design, space planning, construction, buying office furniture, moving, etc.

That will be another proyect!
