For this class I decided to use a Raging Bull as my first ever animal mark. As a kid, I always had a poster of a Lamborghini on the wall and dreamt about the emblem on the car. How amazing and majestic the bull on the emblem looked. Hence, it was the first animal that came to mind for this project. Here goes my best shot as of today.
MOODBOARD
Just like the instructor, for this exercise I decided to use Google Search engine. I searched for the term "Raging Biull". After about an hour or so of searching, I settled on these 9 photos. I must say that none were exactly what I was looking for, but each image had an element that interested me. Aside from the horns, I was really interested on the curve of the Hump and position of the rear legs. Hence I chosed this image as my reference.
REFERENCE IMAGE
PRE-SKETCHING
I desaturated and increased the contrast of the image to help me determine the best outline to sketch over.
Unfortunately, I couldn't see the outline of the rear hooves. But I decided to proceed anyways.
SKETCHES
VECTORIZING
I chose the tail of sketch 8
I used the overall Body Silloute from sketch 9
GRID SYSTEM
It's no secrete that I don't get the Grid System yet, but here's my attempt at it. I plan to purchase Grid Systems in Graphic Design (Josef MullerBrockmann) as recommended by the instructor to help me grasp this concept, because I am not too familiar with it.
SUBMITTED VERSION
My humble logo as of May.
UPDATE June 26, 2015
Finally addressed the tail issue. I think this version looks much better balanced.
UPDATE Feb 5, 2016
I got myself to sit down on my computer and worked on that Hump and Tail!
Would love to know your thoughts and feel free to make suggestions.
Thank you
