Rabbit escape

Rabbit escape - student project

I used procreate to sketch a scene of an animal in a setting. I decided to go for a rabbit because my grandfather used to breed them. He also grew his own vegetables. And both the vegetables and the rabbit usually ended up in a stew. (That is why I let this one escape.)

I made a first, very dark cartoony version (inspired by what Ira did in the video and black and white drawings of Hell boy by Mike Mignola.)

I ordered a book about Edward Gorey (which will arrive tomorrow) and I would like to try a second version in that style. I had never heard about Edward Gorey but absolutely loved what I saw in the video.

{Edit: and the Edward Gorey style version is finished. But Ira, Ira, Ira, that was a pain ... More respect to mr. Gorey!]

For my third version, I would like to try something in the style of Belgian illustrator Carll Cneut. (Let's aim high.) The one thing I am really to scared to even try is the style of Rebecca Dautremer. I was swerving around the internet to explore some more things I like and Rebecca just blew me away. That is almost enough to just go and bury all my drawing utensils. (But I know, perfection is the voice of the oppressor.) I will add to my project as soon as I can.
