Quiet Time

Hello to all,

(newest posts are at the top)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Some Pattern added.

I added wallpaper, trees outside and a carpet texture.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Where I am at this moment.

I am not quite there but have made some progress.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Trying to solve the perspective problem without getting too complicated.

The colors are arbitrary at the moment but the value is what I am thinking.

Patern experimentation

A bit more progress

----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the first digital sketch

I will let this simmer for a bit and see if it is the direction I will continue with.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a new turn. A sleeping baby after a busy day is wonderfully quiet. Who knows if this will be the last turn in my process.

Some shape exploration/Concept refinement

An exploration of shape and character. I am still not sure of the mood and attitude. The experiment has been fun so far. I need to look at some more silent film stills to find texture and style.

First Round Sketches

While I could think of many things that were quiet, many of them did not function well as a symbol for quiet. I explored things that were quiet while at the same time they were communication something loud. American Sign Language was one silent way of communication but difficult to show in just one image. This exploration lead me to silent films.

The sketch I chose shows a girl crying for help. The speach bubble indicates sound, but the steriotypical on screen graphics refer back to the medium of silent film.

I would be interested in any thoughts or oppinions about the communication of the sketch. In other words, just because silent film is silent, does it communicate quiet?
