Here Is my newest concept:Purity Ring Gig Poster - image 1 - student project

Tell me what you guys think. Which one should I finish?

I wanted my design to be cohesive with the bands name PURITY RING. Thus, I chose to have some strong ring shaped, or circular design. I loved the idea of an Ouroboros.

The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail.

The Ouroboros often represents self-reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself, the eternal return, and other things perceived as cycles that begin anew as soon as they end (compare with phoenix). It can also represent the idea of primordial unity related to something existing in or persisting from the beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be extinguished.

Instead of the typical snake or dragon that the ouroboros uses, I wanted to include some sort of canine species. Their album cover featured what looks to me to be some sort of sheep.  I liked the idea of doing a fox, a kind of opposite to the sheep.

Here is my first rough sketch:

I colored it just to see a 2 color scheme on the fox. I wanted to try to refine the fox and also to have the feet meet on a strait line on the bottom. I am not sure where I want to place the text yet. But, with the feet lined up I can utilize the space below him as some sort of structure for text. My other Idea for the text would be to fill the empty space inside of the fox.

Here is my second attempt:

I wanted to also make the shape in to a more perfect circle instead of the organic oval it was before. I liked the feet lined up, and decided to stick with this. I did not like the detail or style that I added to the fox, and wanted to revert back to the first sketch with the more simplistic recognizable image, while maintaining the circle, and the lined up feet.

Here is my third sketch:

My next step will be to figure out the placement of the text, and the style of font. I also want to develop a color palette with maybe 4-5 colors. Please comment and let me know what you guys think!

Here is the color palette I created using colourlovers.com

Obviously these are not set in stone, I might need to adjust as I go along.

Cream- fox highlight/secondary color

burned orange- fox primary color

dark charcoal- inside the fox/negative space

medium blue- text/characters

darker blue- background color

I started to work on where I would like some of the wording:

Here is my latest progress on the fox ouroboros:

Here is the progress update for the end of today:

I have been working on some lettering:

Let me know what you think!

I am trying some different things with the text. Here is new version. It's rough, and I am not sure that I am going to use these exact fonts. I just wanted to give a general idea of maybe a typography square in the middle instead of the last version. Please if you have any thoughts or ideas for me do not hesitate to give feedback.
