DESCRIPTION:

Gouache is a popular medium of many contemporary illustrators, so I have decided to make this video introduction to working with gouache. You will learn:

  • the basics of working with gouache paints
  • painting on a dark paper or dark background
  • how to paint more or less abstract 2D landscape
  • what materials you can use
  • you will try few exercises on painting simple florals or daily objects

This class is great for artists who haven't try painting with goauche paint before or complete beginners.

By the end of this class you should have your own modern landscape illustration inspired by american folk art or contemporary folk art.

PROJECT

Create and upload one modern landscape illustration inspired by this class. You can use a photo reference or you can simplify your favorite place and try to paint it. You can also create a fantasy landscape.

DESCRIPTION:

Learn and practice how to make illustrations of cute animals. This class is for anyone, more or less skilled in drawing, who would like to create original illustrations of his favourite animals. The final drawing should be surreal, soft, simple and fun. This class is the first part of the class series Cute Animals: Explore the Ways of Traditional Illustration. In this part you will learn how to create your own artistic translation of reality, some rules of abstraction and how to design and draw a cute animal with inks or ink pens. As a bonus I will show how to finish your drawing digitally.

DELIVERABLE:

Choose one of the styles of making illustrated jewelry shown in the video lessons:

  1. Badge
  2. Traditional brooch
  3. Paper brooch
  4. Plastic brooch

Chosen style should match your personal and artistic style (maybe also your branding).

1) Watch video lesson called "Inspiration". Make a moodboard of your desired jewel OR share some sketches of your first ideas or a picture you would like to turn into a brooch.

2) Make your own brooch (or badge) this way and share a photo of it. If your prefer other kind of jewelry (earrings, necklaces), you can make it instead (it should be quite clear how to make them after watching these lessons).

OPTIONAL:

You can share anything from the process of making and I would love to see a photo of you wearing that brooch! You can also try more ways of making jewelry and share the results.
