Practice Makes Progress - (Fearfully and Wonderfully Made)

** Update 9/7 - I had the pleasure of designing some logos for some local photographers! :)

** Update 7-24

**Update 6/24 - I have continued to use this technique and love love love it! Here are a couple more recent pieces I have made using this tecnique.

I absolutely love this technique! I've used it for multiple projects but this is the first one I've decided to share.

I recently started an Etsy where I sell hand-lettered prints and decided to make a special one for the month of March. I plan to donate 50% of proceeds from this print to the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day (3/21). I have a cousin that was born with Down Syndrome and I am passionate about raising awareness!

I wanted to create something with an empowering message that could apply to anyone... Babies, young children and adults alike, whether differently-abled or not. I decided on part of a verse from Psalm 139:14

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

I kept my sketch simple and went with a funkier, modern script. I stayed away from flourishing because I didn't want it to feel too "girly." I usually use pen & ink when I use this technique, but on a whim decided to use a Micron and "fake it" this time for some added precision on my downstrokes.

Cleaned up in Photshop:

Vectorized (moved the arrows a bit after I expanded)

An example with some color:

Printed & framed

I was quite pleased with the way it turned out! Can't wait to continue practicing and improving my technique! I hope you enjoy my project! :)
