This was my first attempt at drawing the figure digitally, and I’m very pleased with how it went! There are some definite drawing issues (the eyes are entirely different sizes and the lips are a bit awkward) but it’s been so long since I’ve drawn representationally I’m just happy it looks like a face! (Even if it does somewhat resemble a mugshot...)
All the brushstrokes were created with the 6B Pencil and the soft pastel. The reference was created using ArtBreeder, an AI art app—she’s not a real person, she’s made of data. Start to finish, the portrait took about three hours and 20 minutes.
I’ll definitely be making more portraits using these techniques! This class was an absolute delight, and thank you so much, Gabrielle, for putting it together!
