Firstly, thanks for an amazing class, Peggy – I learned a lot.
Once I finished painting this A5 piece with gouache, I remembered that I have some large colored papers at home. I went outside to look for some flowers and found 4 different kinds. I snapped a few different compositions with different flowers, in different positions, and on two background colors. In the end, I decided on the lilac flowers to match her earrings. I had a hard time deciding between these two compositions, so I ended up asking for advice from my family and the red background won.
One last thing I did was to darken and saturate the red painted pattern in the background so it would match the background paper.
