Portrait Class: John C

Hi everyone,

I'm really excited to be here, to share, and to see what everyone else shares in Gabrielle's class.  I also want to say thank you to Gabrielle for teaching us her techniques for drawing portraits.

With work in the way I've kind of got a slow start, but I think it's going to be alright, Lol.  After looking at a few different images I found two that I really like.  The first one is a portrait of James Franco...

and the second is of Amber Heard.

My favorite one is the one of James Franco.  I really like the way the lighting is setup for it.

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is having a good a weekend.  I've had the opportunity sit down and watch all of the lessons.  Now I'm going through and doing each section.  I just finished practicing the eyes.

Hope I can find some more time tomorrow to work on more of these sketches.

All right, just finished working on my nose studies.  I'll have to say the nose is a pretty tricky subject :)

I think I'll try and find my camera, so I can get better pics then what my phone is picking up, Lol.

2/4/14

So it's been a while since I've been on here. I wasn't sure if I was going to find time to jump back into my project, but I'm determined to follow through.

I finished up the study on the ears a couple of weeks ago.  I think next I'm going to start sketching James Francos portrait.  I'll either start doing that tonight or tomorrow.  Wish me luck :)

2/9/14

So..... I just bought a PS4 on Friday and I've been really, really <.<

um... distracted.  But, for the last few hours I sketched in my sketchbook.  Mostly from my copy of George Bridgeman's anatomy book, but with the last hour I sat and did a couple of practice sketches of James Franco's portrait.  All of them were done with my 4b led.  Tomorrow I'm going to start on the actual drawing, now that I'm more comfortable with the photograph.
