Poetry Icon Set

Hey all!

In addition to working in a startup, I write poetry in my spare time and perform at Spoken Word Paris. So I thought for my first icon set I'd work on some icons that're emblematic of the writing and performing process.

Here's my short brainstorm list:

Poetry icon set –

Pen

Paper

Book

iPhone

Notebook

Person speaking

Crumpled paper

I've just gotten to the 'Share your 3x3 grid of roughs' phase, so here goes!

Let me know what you think! I think I've settled on the last row as the winners.

UPDATE:

Hey everyone! So I've completed the first three icons in Photoshop now and I just did a 4th (the tea bag). I wanted to post them here as, especially for the pen, they've changed a bit from how I had them in Illustrator.

Here's the tea bag close up. Having seen it above, I quickly went back in and gave it rounded corners on the bottom and increaded the dimensions (to the same height as the others) to make it more harmonious with the set's aesthetic. Let me know what you think!

UPDATE:

Wow, I really got in deep with this projet — and I'm now ready to show the results! I've just gone and posted them on Dribbble, so if you don't mind, feel free to Like and offer comments there as well :)

Here are my 15 icons:

I've loved this class, especially the experience of first designing in Illustrator and then switching to Photoshop — a process that really taught me some of the more nuanced differences between the two. And I have to say, I prefer how these look.

If I had to pick my favorites, I think I'd go for the Fjallraven Kanken backpack (top right), the glasses in the pocket, and the ink bottle.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments! It's been wonderful sharing these with you guys, and I hope to dive right into the next Skillshare adventure :)
