3/5/21: I revisited this artwork and made some changes now that I have more experience drawing in Procreate.

I decided to use a recipe from my great-grandmother. She lived in Florida all her life, raised children and grandchildren, was an amazing seamstress and cook. She had chickens and I believe she influenced my mom, who then passed on the love of baking and sewing on to me.
I wanted to go with a 1950's theme and thought of the Betty Crocker cookbook with the red and white checkerboard cover. I alluded to the that with a pink checkerboard pattern in the background. The brown pattern is reminiscent of baking parchment paper.
I used Procreate on the Ipad pro and an apple pencil to draw and color everything. I wanted to set it up in Illustrator, but I had a hard time transferring my drawings and logistics got the best of me. I really enjoyed this process and hope to design more illustration recipes.
I'm going to print this recipe out and give it to all the women in my family for Christmas!
