Playing with shapes - My still life

Playing with shapes - My still life - student project

For my project I chose some natural objects to practice the abstraction of these complex forms. I made a lot of compositions but at the end I opted for the one below.

My rough sketch of this composition:

I decided to draw in perspective the top of the cylindrical objects and a side view in case of the book. It feels a bit unnatural, but it works better this way in the composition I think.

The flower in the vase was too straight for me, so I decided to make it more smooth in order to lead the eyes of the observer easier around the composition.

Because of the lot of greens in the composition, I picked a mid tone green as a base color. The other colors were derived from this color (shades of complementary color, shade of the green) and as a pop color I chose yellow.

After this first version I made some fine tuning here and there in order to get my final drawing:

I am not 100% sure in the detailing, usually I make too much or too few of it. This time I tried to get it balanced. :)

It was a really fun project and a very good class. Thank you for the cool tips and tricks! :)
