Playhaus Apparel

Hello everybody! My name is Michael and I am a Graphic Designer, studying at The Academy of Design in Toronto currently completing a diploma in Graphic Design. I also have a strong interest in Enterprise, Fashion and Literature. In the late Fall, 2012 I conceptualized a concept for a brand to be called The Playhaus - the name deriving from the German design movement, The Bauhaus. My long-term plan is to turn Playhaus into a multi-faceted design enterprise, producing all types of artistic work. Short-term I've decided to begin with apparel, since I have an incredible passion for it and it will be the most basic to get off the ground.

Here are some of my designs as of yet:

What I joined this course to do was gain more experience in illustration. I have a lot of clean, simple designs done so far for different pieces (t-shirt, tank top, sweatshirt) but I want to make more elaborate and illustrative pieces.

For My t-shirt design I am going to design an old-school carnival themed shirt with the Playhaus in the middle. I've researched all of my inspiration and plan on doing cartoon renditions of some of photos I found.

So excited to get my hands dirty in this one, definitely one of the coolest projects I've taken on so far. Johnny Cupcakes is a brand I have a huge amount of respect for, and I plan to wring as much knowledge out of this course as possible.

Thanks Guys,

Michael J Williams

Back once more for updates! Been incredibly busy the last week and a half. Flatout with school projects and attended FITC over the weekend and week, but enough with all the exusive blibber blabber, get on with it I shall!

I have for you one hand-drawn sketch to map out and represent what it is I plan to vectorize, and one piece that I've been working on in Ai that I plan to incorporate as a focal-point of the t-shirt.

Here is the hand-drawn (please excuse my unsteady and inaccurate hand) :

And here is the other piece as of yet:
