I decided to start with this hand drawn map of my family's farm. I drew it on a paper towel to help rid myself of ideations of perfection, but also because growing up, we used to write phone messages or other info to each other on paper towels and leave them on the kitchen table for the recipient. 

It's certainly not to scale or perfect by any means, but I'm glad I got over the fear of imperfection and starting! Also, my scanner is not the same size as this paper towel, so part of it got cut off, but all the buildings are represented. The house is much nicer in real life, as well! :)
