Pink Macarons

Hi Marie!

Thank you so much for this class. I really enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing the various macaron shell and filling recipes. I am especially grateful for the macaron shell template. I could not have survived without it!

I wanted to make macarons for my husband as a gift for Valentine's Day because I know that they are a classic French dessert and would be something unique and special for him (us!) to enjoy. I chose to fill them with a simple buttercream this time but I can't wait to try some of the other variations. I will probably try the chocolate ones next.

I have never had macarons before and wasn't quite sure what to expect when making them but they seemed to fit the way you described them in the video so I think I did okay. The feet formed nicely but the only almond flour I could find at my local grocery store seemed to include the almonds skins ground into the flour so that explains the brown specks you see in the shells. Also, I am not a novice baker but I still struggled to pipe the macaron shells out without making a mess so I switced to a smaller tip (I think it was a Wilton size 7)  for my piping bag and found that I had much more control over the shape of my macaron shell.

Here are a few pics of my macarons:
