Pink Is a Very Strong Color

Up until the early 20th century 'Pink' was considered to be a very strong color and was reserved for young boy's clothing. Blue was considerably softer and was the first choice for girls. I have always liked pink as a spicy color note in my paintings.

The first blush of spring is all over today's project. When you put in a neutral, slightly grey underpainting and then infuse it with spicy pinks, vibrant oranges, and clear sailing blues, the results can be eye-popping.

Do not be afraid of color - use it!

Not too much pure color or it will look amateurish and garnish.

Remember this: A color is a spice, not a gravy.

The gray undertones bring out the tasty color notes.
