Pig Mark

Looking through the project gallery for this class, I thought it would be interesting to illustrate a stationary creature.

Below is my simplified moodboard of the images that provided the best silhouettes for your average swine.

And so I began to sketch.

And sketch and sketch and sketch. I didn't have any tracing paper available to me, so I did what I could with a white legal pad.

The most challenging part of this project for me was joining and cutting paths, remembering what I had grouped and copied and staying focused on which pieces needed to go where.

After cleaning up my paths I came up with two color solutions, while also playing with some sizing and type:

So there you have it! I also tried my hand at gridding... which I've never done before. A little confusing for me, but I'm determined to keep trying.

Bonus: Also if you turn 'em upside down, you get a screaming seal.
