Personal Portfolio Site

I am a graphic designer with experience in many mediums. I have a lot of incohesive pieces to bring together but I would like to keep it simple. This site would be for possible clients, to keep all of my work in one area and push me to keep all of my work up to date.

I think my biggest challenge will be deciding what is important enough to put on my website. To keep with the simplicity I would like to keep the quality of projects to just my best. Is it important to have a thumbnail view to see all projects? I was thinking about having a dropdown to the navigation for Portfolio, alternatively it could be on the side of each project page.

I've never been able to launch my own website, most likely because I haven't started with a wireframe and I end up changing things half way through. I could use any suggestions you have!

EDIT:

Here is an alternate homepage I came up with, I think it is more successful than following the same format of the entire site.
