Penny For Your Thoughts

Hello everyone!

Let me start of by saying thank you Mikey for letting behind the curtain. I've have always been curious about your process so when I found out you were going to have a skillshare class I was super stoked. So Thank You! I was actually pleasantly surprised by how simple the process is. The techniques I have been using in the past involved the pen tool, took twice as long, and in the end didn't look as organic like this does. I LOVE IT!

HERE'S HOW I GOT THERE...

PICKING YOUR IDIOM

I narrowed it down, thanks to google, to these idioms

cup of joe

loose cannon

tie the knot

SKETCHING

the sketching process can be really fun for me typically but I really enjoyed trying to ideate for these idioms cause it can prove rather difficult. Well for me at least. Trying not to be too literal but literal enough to get the point across. It's a fine line and a good challenge. This is what I came up with during that stage.

REFINING/ILLUSTRATING

The idea I chose was this one. I took it into illustrator and it took no time at all to draw out with the Bbrush and the Eraser.

TEXTURING

I haven't gotten to this point yet because I have an ink printer and not a laser printer. So I still need to separate the layers/colors out and get some prints from kinkos like Mikey recommended. I'm sure other people had this same run-in so I think I will post a question about this in the discussion section.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I am happy with the outcome of my project but I am most happy about getting a chance to see and learn your process Mikey. Your work continues to inspire me everyday and I will definitely be taking these teniques out with me into my own designy-illustrator world.
