Pattern Design Session: Tea Time

Pattern Design Session

Update 4/16 - After lots and lots (and LOTS) of color iterations, I decided to go with a brighter, more reduced color palette. This is where I've landed, and I really love how it turned out. I want to send out a sincere thank you to everyone for your feedback! There are few things that help me grow more than these group challenges - I've learned a lot from you all! For those of you attending Surtex, please leave a comment and let me know what booth you're in so I can ogle your pretty designs! I'll be in booth 254 under my business name Manayunk Calligraphy.

Update 4/13 - thanks to everyone for the color feedback! I went with Elizabeth's expert advice and got the build donezo. Seeing it all laid out makes me soften a little more to the palette, but even so, I think I'll take the rest of the time in this class to try some new colorways and make some coordinating prints. As always, any feedback/suggestions are SO appreciated!

Update 4/12 - added some color! Not sure how I feel about this palette - any feedback would be much appreciated!

Update 4/11

Did some sketching - up next is clean-up and coloring! And, let's be real, probably more sketching.

Update 4/9

I'm a little bit behind! I wanted to do a pattern that focuses on lettering, since that's what I do! Tea bags and tins offer the perfect opportunity for that. Can't wait to start sketching - looking forward to this challenge!

Update 3/14

Here's the finished product! I am getting ready for Surtex, and decided to build a whole collection around it. Thanks Elizabeth for the challenge!

Update 3/9

Pattern layout is finished - working on colorizing! I was planning on taking out the black lines, but now I am kind of digging them. We shall see!

Update 3/7

Still working on getting designs vectorized, but in the meantime, here are some sketches. Really digging the direction, and have plans to flesh it out a bit more - but wanted to show my progress and stay accountable to the challenge!

I'll be honest - spring is not my favorite season. Or second. Or third. But what I DO love about this time of year is the clothing. Specifically, the shoes. The weather is getting warmer, and it's time to shed the snow boots for d'orsay flats. The shapes, the stripes, the sweet patterns - yea, please! Hoping this little tip toe through the tulips will have me loving spring - and making a super fun pattern while I'm at it! Super excited to do this challenge with you all!
