Pattern Adventure

I really enjoyed Karina's class and even though I am a painter and do not use photoshop (although I should) I still found the class really interesting and exciting. I liked Karina's combination of different imagery - plants, minerals, animals etc.  I liked the way Karina moved the 4 quarters of the image around to build up the pattern so I decided to do a very simple watercolor prototype.

So I started with a simple watercolor of rose hips.  I made a copy of the original design to work with  and cut it into 4 and then rearranged the 4 quarters

I added some motifs to the center and then reformed the pieces to return to the original image.  I can imagine using this techique to create some interesting and different paintings.
