Panda Sauce: Now with extra LOVE

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and he LOVES pandas. So I wanted to make a cute panda birthday card.

This is my pinterest board:

Blind sketches (I'll admit I peeked once or twice):

From this I observed that the eyes, nose, ears and, of course, the black and white colours are the most characteristic features of the Panda.

So I went ahead and did different variations of those features. I did also draw variations of the ears and mouth, buuuuuut I kinda forgot to photograph that. Soz.

Here are the geometric drawings. I tried to keep everything round because they're very poofie and adorable and angles would have taken away from that.

I kinda like that dude on the right. haha.

Combining all of this, plus my idea for the card: A bottle of Panda sauce, now with extra LOVE, I sketched out this guy (open bottle cap on the right).

Next I used my lightbox to redraw the little dude on a sheet of watercolour paper that I could fold down to a card. Here is the front:

And this is the inside (so far... I might decide to add some watercolour hearts):

Tools used:

Brush pen: Kuretake Bimoji
Fineliner: Derwent Graphik Line Maker 0.2mm
Watercolour: Just a cheap tray of 24 colours I that I'm pretty sure is meant for kids

Thanks for a fun class!
