Painting a horse and Claude the Bear

Painting a horse and Claude the Bear - student project

Okay so I was looking at my horse drawing from the previous class and I'm just making some notes here. Claude is a character in my book. Here's what led to me painting him,

The two horses looking at each other:

I love the long hair. I was in a Hallmark store and saw these toys... yes something dreamy.

I don't have ink but I have black paint that hardly ever gets used. This is a great way to practice monotones. I did mess up on the ears BUT that mistake? led to an awesome hat! The neck needs work.

Perfect idea to watch a you tube video and in eight minutes draw an awesome horse. It turns out drawing a horse is a whole lot harder than I thought.

Yes drawing a horse or any object shape by shape makes so much more sense. I started drawing the two circles and thought OKAY this is easy! I got this. I don't know what happen to the horse. The smaller horse on top looks better for a second drawing. Now all I have to do is draw this and draw this until it looks like the horse I want.

I had an idea for the layout and everything.

I'm putting this to the awesome keep working on it pile.

BUT wait I have to paint something for the class project.

Note to self. Keep working.

Notes for the bear:

work on the head a little bit and the ears. Not sure of the standing position of the bear. Use a different brush for the texture on the tree. Lettering needs a little pacing and again I need to work on the lettering and practice that more with paint. Overall I am proud of this piece.

I love horses so not doubt I will be painting this again. Check out my blog and instagram.
