Painted Words

My tools have arrived and I couldn't be any more excited!  I have been anxiously awaiting their arrival for days now.  The time has finally come when I can officially start this project! Hooray!

So, today I embark on a new journey... learning the art of calligraphy.  You see, I have this small obsession with fonts and have always found myself drawn towards beautifully hand-drawn lettering.  I have searched far and wide to find somewhere to take a class so that I could one day be able to scribble out some beautifully painted words, but it seems that calligraphy has become a lost art.  Time went on as I continued to admire all different kinds of lettering, filling a Pinterest board with inspiration after inspiration.  Then, one day, I randomly stumbled upon this class through Facebook.  Oh my goodness!  This was exactly what I had been looking for! So I thanked my lucky stars and signed up for the class.

Day 1

Finally ready to get my hands dirty.  This was my first attempt {ever} of the first 4 strokes.  Yikes!  I am a bit of a perfectionist, so learning something for the first time can sometimes be very frustrating for me as I always want it to be flawless despite me being a complete beginner.  It seems I have little consistency within each stroke... especially the O's which look absolutely horrendous!

Here is my second attempt.  Holding the pen still seems awkward to me, but I'm sure it will get better with time.  It seems I have a little bit more control within each stroke here.  I am a little more pleased with this attempt, however, I still hate my O's.  Practice, practice, practice.
