PUBLISHED: Design for All Sizes and Screens: Responsive Design in Sketch

Check out the finalized course: Design for All Sizes and Screens: Responsive Design in Sketch

Hi Everyone! Excited to be working on my first class. Sketch (https://sketchapp.com/) has become one of the most widely used design tools, and I use it on nearly a daily basis. I will be focusing on some of the features that make it useful for responsive web design.

Class Topic

This course will teach you the basics of designing responsive layouts in Sketch. Sketch has quickly become the most widely used tool for web and mobile design, replacing Photoshop for many designers. In a recent update, Sketch introduced the ability for objects to respond to changes in size.

'Designing Responsive Layouts with Sketch' will teach you the basics of designing responsive layouts in Sketch, and explain how this is useful for web design. Sketch defines four different behaviors on how objects should resize, and we will be focus on the uses of each:

  • Stretch
  • Pin to corner
  • Resize object
  • Float in place

This course is for anyone with an interest in web design. Some familiarity with Sketch or another design application is helpful.

Class Project

You will be designing a single page of a mobile events application featuring your favorite movie or band using Sketch. The design should resize to a variety of sizes using the Sketch resizing tools you’ve just learned about.
