Hi!

My class will be about Handwriting in the Italic Style.

I'm super excited and also super scared because this is my first Skillshare class and I really hope I can do a good job.

So, let's get started!

CLASS TITLE AND DESCRIPTION

Handwriting: the Basics in Italic Style

In this class you'll learn the Basics if Italic Handwriting. We'll begin with the rithm of this hand, which is its peculiarity. I think this first part is the most important in order to understand the principles of this style.

Then we'll cover all the minuscle letterforms, and the majuscules.

Next we'll see how simple it is to connect those letters to obtain the cursive.

In the end we'll put some slant and a bit of swashes and this will allow us to achieve a more elegant but still very clean handwriting.

And this is the part that I personaly prefer: for the final project you'll handwrite a song or a poem that has a meaning to you, and then send it to one of your classmates.

PROJECT TITLE AND DESCRIPTION

...But I think the best part of doing something with your hands is to share it: put your text in an envelope and send it to one of your classmates!

2. Your Handwriting using Block Letters

3. Your Handwriting using the Cursive

UPDATE

Preparing the material for the class I realized that it's too much, so I decided to break it into two.

In this class I'll cover only the lowercase letters because I want to focus very well on the fundamentals.

These will be the lessons:

CLASS TITLE AND DESCRIPTION

Handwriting: the Basics in Italic Style - Part 1: lowercase

This is the first of two classes dedicated to Handwriting in Italic Style.

In this class I'll show you the lowercase letters.

We'll begin with the basic shape recurring in this hand. That shape is its peculiarity and allows to obtain a recognizable rhythm.

I think this first part is the most important in order to understand the principle of this style.

At this point we'll see how to write the lowercase letters, unjoined.

Then we'll be ready to join those letters to write in cursive.

In the end we will see what difference it makes if we add some slant.

And this is the part that I personally prefer: you are now ready to handwrite a song or poem that has a meaning to you for your final project, and then send it to one of your classmates!

- Exercises: We will make drills in order to achieve the rhythm and to learn to draw the basic shape.

- Exercises: We will write each letter alone and then into words and sentences.
