One summer afternoon.

Surprise:

One summer afternoon, Jay was sitting in his Chevrolet Impala 64 with his friend. Black, sleek, expensive car which fit this quiet, posh neighbourhood. All houses here looked the same: neat and pretty, but boring. Jay casually drew his blunt, filling his lungs with the smoke. He slowly released the smoke into the air. It was a sunny day, but Jay's car was hiding in the shadows of the old, majestic trees. The sound of the wind whispering through the trees and boys shouting at the basketball court all mixed together to form an urban symphony. Jay was singing along to his own, blasting the audio with old school hip-hop tunes. Eddy passed him the blunt, and Jay smiled, drawing on it one last time before someone wearing a hoodie appeared behind Eddy and pulled a trigger. Jay released his last breath with the smoke.

Suspense:

One summer afternoon, Jay was sitting in his Chevrolet Impala 64 with his friend, Eddy.

Dave took the gun out of the drawer and checked that it was loaded. He put his hoodie on and wrapped a bandana around his face. He left the house, walking past the graffiti walls, barber's shop and a basketball court full of young boys. He put his sweaty, trembling hand inside his pocket to hide the gun as he entered the quiet neighbourhood. He followed the sound of an old hip-hop song. You could see the grin on his face if he wasn't covering it when he saw Jay's car.

Eddy passed Jay a blunt and continued to dance to the beat of the song. He was smiling, but as he looked in the rear mirror, his expression changed. He saw someone with a gun, approaching the car from behind. Eddy turned to Jay to warn him when he heard a gunshot. Jay's cigarette fell off his hand as he released his last breath mixed with the smoke.
