One Perfect Day in NYC

One Perfect Day in NYC - student project

I <3 maps. Here is my Pinterest maps board:

My Project: a Map of One Perfect Day in NYC

  • Why am I making this map? A few years ago, a couple of friends came to the city and I only had one day to show them around. I love maps and planning itineraries, but I had my work cut out for my by having less than 24 hours with them. In the end, it was a wonderful day and the three of us still talk about it. I want to make a map, not necessarily recreating that day, but taking the time to really plan out a terrific day in the city. I am making the map for myself to remember my favorite spots when I finally move somewhere else and for friends & family that come to visit while I am still here.
  • Why am I the expert to create this map? Because it is going to be a map of my favorite New York places and things.
  • Who is my target audience? Mostly myself, my friends and family, but I will likely post it to my blog and pin it on Pinterest as well.
  • Do I want my final project to be printed or digital? Both, I think. I definitely want to post it online, but I want to have hard copies made, too. Maybe make it as a downloadable pdf?
  • What level of detail do I need to include? I'm not sure yet. I love the idea of pretty, illustrated maps that aren't entirely accurate, but the navigator in my loves a useable map a lot more.

My first two-minute drawing -- the walk from my apartment to Starbucks this morning. =)
