On Fire - In Jail

On Fire - In Jail - student project

There are many fire spinners in the San Francisco bay area that present the perfect opportunity to record light drawing images, and they love having their picture taken.

Here are some people spinning LED lit poi at Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco. The woman on the left has an LED hula hoop.

Same camera as above.

Shutter speed was 1.2 seconds. Very short because they are twirling the lights pretty fast.

Aperture was f/4.

We drew the next picture in one of the cell blocks on Alcatraz during the night tour. Kind of a Birdman thing.

Shutter speed - 20 seconds - I didn't have my wired remote with me, so I just set the shutter to 20 seconds. That gave the artist plenty of time to draw this and get out of the picture.

Aperture - f/22 - I had to stop down all the way to get the exposure right.
