I have a calligraphy and design company called Ocean & Coral Calligraphy, and I never really tried to brand it when I first started 2 years ago. I decided that now that I'm super busy, it's time to start thinking about branding and color schemes.
To start, Ocean & Coral came from my love of the beach. The beach is super relaxing and is where I'm the happiest. Calligraphy is also very relaxing to me, so I wanted to name my company after something I love and something that can reflect that relaxed attitude.
Here's my mood board!
Here's a photo of the brand attributes that I came up with. I originally came up with 6 colors for my brand, so I split it into 3 main colors and 3 supporting colors...I think they all go really well together, so I didn't want to completely drop any of them.
My current logo is this:
For right now, it's serving its purpose, but I know I could do better. Once I get home, I'll be able to break out my watercolors and get started on a new logo. I imagine it to be more flowy and the lettering in watercolor, which reminds me of the sea. I'll probably paint a piece of coral to include in the logo...or maybe a sea fan. I'll just have to see what I come up with!
Any comments on my progress so far would be greatly appreciated! :) Eventually I'll have to redo my website to reflect this branding...and that's going to be a lot of work. But for now, click here to see my current website. It'll be fun to see the before and after!
