November Sketchbook Challenge

Hello! My name is Casey Saccomanno and I am a fashion designer that would love to transition my full time career into a pattern designer. I fell in love with drawing at a very young age but after graduating art school and working full-time I fell away from creating art and drawings for myself. I am trying to get back in this habit so I sketch everyday to create one print or design each day.

I upload a sketch or artwork each day on instagram, so if anyone would like to follow me, you can find me @caseysaccomanno

November 24: Snuggle

  • Medium: Watercolor and a large 14 size brush
  • Inspiration: This week I have been interpreting the meaning of the choosen word in a more abstract way, this is the painting I came out with for snuggle. Snuggle evokes feelings of calm/blue/clouds to me.

November 23: Still

  • Medium: watercolor and gouche, played with tranparency of some colors and opaqueness of others in gouche.
  • Inspiration: Instead of drawing a moment or objects, it just wanted to create a painting that looks/feels/represents stillness to me. This was a exciting moment for me because geometrics are something I struggle with but I feel like I was still able to keep my art style in this piece based on the paints I chose to use.

November 5: Feast

  • Today my heart feasts on being the best artist that I can be and staying true to myself and my goals.
  • Inspiration: I recently read #GirlBoss and Sophia talks about creating a your very own personal mantra logo to keep in a place you see it everyday.... here are the steps:
  • 1- write down 1-3 words that symbolize you career or creative goals for the future
  • 2- cross out all the vowels and all the repeating letters
  • 3- now take the remaining letters of the word or words you wrote down and draw them together/overlapping/with the edges touching so they create a small logo.
  • 4- keep this as your motivation to achieve your dreams- put it on your dresser, your wallet, your wall..... then go kick some butt!

Here is my motivational logo that I drew today in about 1 minute, but I put a lot of time and thought into the words that are represented in this logo:
