No injuries!

I'm finally getting back to working out after one major (stress fracture of pelvis) and one minor (housemaid's knee/prepateller bursitis). My main goal for 2013 is to be injury-free and work on being fit and healthy at the same time.

Along with that, here's the measurable goals I'm working on:

  1. Start slow and steady. I already jumped back into doing too much and ended up with a swollen knee, so I'm starting with yoga 5 times per week. After my stress fracture, yoga is what brought me back, I even impressed my physiotherapist. I'm going to mix between gentle, alignment based and more vigorous vinyasa flow and ashtanga classes on Yogaglo.
  2. After a month of yoga, reassess how I feel and start some more dedicated strength training to rebuild the muscle I've lost.
  3. My goal is to start slowly back into running by spring if I'm feeling good. I have to be careful here, I tend to take on too much too fast. I'd be happy running easy 5ks 2-3 times a week by the end of summer.
  4. Get my nutrition back on track. Cut down on the grains and add more protein in to support muscle growth.
  5. I'm not looking to lose weight. I'd rather maintain where I am now but recomp and trade some fat for muscle.
  6. 1 unassisted pull-up!

I think that's about it for now. I'm sure I'll come back and re-evaluate as needed. Mostly I'm focusing on listening to my body and keeping it healthy.
