Nice Shades.

Hello everyone!

I’m participating in “The July Hand Lettering Challenge”. It is a great help for me to complete this class which I enrolled long time ago (shame…). No more procrastination!

PHRASE

“Hey, Nice Shades” - I wanted something easy-going and summer-related in just a FEW words (For the first part of this class, I was too ambitious to pick a long phrase, and I regretted it…).

COLOUR EXPLORATIONS

Colour Palette (picked from images in moodboard) and an additional background element I created in Illustrator:

Here are the four versions I did. I think I'll go with the one in the lower left. I also did an inverted (negative?) version just because I wanted to try... I don't think it's suitable for the concept.

COLOUR FINAL

I made some modification based on Mary Kate’s feedback. The modified frame gives more structure and continuity as a whole, without being heavy (The reason why I made an additional background element - as you see in the previous post - is to give some continuity between top and bottom).

FINAL PIECE

Yay! I made it to the end!

I used both hand-made textures and photoshop brushes. I hope it looks credible for everyone. I have only an "ok" printer at home, so I'm curious how it would turn out with a proper printer. I'll post a final product (postcard or greeting card) as soon as I get it.

I would like to thank Mary Kate for the classes and precious feedbacks! I I really had fun, and learned a lot from these two classes. My lettering journey continues - I'll keep on exploring and experimenting.
