New class published & 2017 channel plan

I. Market Your Class to Your Community

Yess! I finally published my first class of 2017! If you're interested in diy projects please check the links.

Marketing my second class is a lot harder than the first one. First of all the subject is really different but I'm also noticing that friends and family are not eager to subscribe for a free premium month. So my direct community is not such a good option. At this point the Facebook groups are not creating a lot of traffic. If have any tips please let me know!

II. Build a Publishing Plan

I joined the spring channel challenge to make sure that I stay in the flow of creating classes. I filled out a three month publishing plan. You can check it out here: link

The order or the subject may change. I want to check with my community if they'd like to see a class on a specific subject.

III. Describe Your Channel Theme

I'd like my channel to be a combination of art related classes and fun diy projects. My ideal students are creative people looking to learn about basics, different mediums and love to create.
The direction my channel takes will also depend on what people would like to learn.

IV. Share Your Channel Progress

I'm currently marketing my latest class and making a plan for my next one.

Here's a little sneak peek of the next class:

July 2016

First thing I did when I published my class was creating 25 free enrollment links http://skl.sh/2aTghSz. I contacted most of my friends and family through whatsapp. This way I was able to help them out more quickly than by email.

Before I finished my class I singed up with 4 Facebook groups (search for skillshare in groups and several groups will show up). By the time I finished my class I had permission to post in all the groups. I created a post with the free link on my Facebook page. When I shared it with the groups I added the the premium link too http://skl.sh/2aGAJH7

Within 3 days I reached 25 students! To celebrate I made a promo video, posted the longer version on youtube and the shorter version on instagram. https://youtu.be/Vc5FyT1PG5o

I don't have a lot of followers (yet!) on social media platforms. So I posted several times on skillshare itself. This helped a lot with new students.

Almost a week past and I'm at 52 students. Really didn't expect it to go so well! But I'm struggling with engaging with the students. I got some positive reviews but I can't get people to create a project. I posted a welcome post where I hoped to make it a little easier for students to share their learning process. Maybe I want to go to quick. Any suggestions?
I signed up for a skillshare class about engaging your student following and will also take a look at the teacher handbook.
