New York Poster

I'm having some trouble now figuring out how to do make the texure fade out like it does in my original. I made a bitmap texture in Photoshop and tried using it but I need to be able to make it fade out instead of cutting off hard. I tried symbol sprayer but haven't figured it out yet, and I tried making the texture a swatch and dragging it onto the gradient slider bar but that doesn't work, I'm presuming because it's not actually a colour. If anyone has any tips, let me know. Now, to Google!

Turns out I was having so much trouble with the hand because I had the colour on the left side wrong. I thought it was the same as the colour on the right but is not. I think I've got it pretty close now and am going to call it good. I couldn't find a font that looked right so I did the lettering by hand with the pen tool. It wasn't as hard as I'd thought. Stoked to move on to textures and gradients! Thanks to Stephanie and Brad and others for answering my questions!

I did a little playing with transparency but haven't got them right yet. I'm not sure how I'm going to get all the overlapping on the torch and hand to work and might have to redraw part of the left side of the hand to make it work. Also have to adjust the colour of the dots and redo the water so the waves are much, much smaller. If I only had time to actually work on this. With absolutely zero free time this project is dragging on and on.

A little more done. I spent about an hour messing with the warp tool to get the little waves in the water, and I'm still not really happy with it. I'll play with it more later. Now on to opacities, colours, texture!

This is where I'm at now. Got some of the basic shapes down, but I'm struggling with how many different shapes and colours are overlapping in the hand and torch. I have a feeling some of this could involve messing with opacities, but I haven't got to that video yet.

Not much done yet. I'm taking this course pretty slowly.

A little progress today...
