A 3D side scroller.
It's the year 2717 and after years of world war, humans have fled their home planet and settled in a system within the Eagle Nebula. With the help of synthetic and AI implants, humans are now faster, stronger and smarter, creating what could be considered a new race of synthetic organic species.
After being awakened by your on board AI, you try to remember something...anything. You seem to be in some ancient alien looking cave and there are dead soilders around you everywhere. Why can't you remember anything? You turn to your AI for answers and she explains that you were apart of an expidition to the core of the star system. A darkness looms, and in order to protect the remaining members of the human race, you must reach the core. Your team has been slaughtered and you are the only remaining survivor. It's up to you to seal up whatever is threatening to escape, but first, with your AI guiding you, you must relocate your missing implants granting you new abilities along the way and ultimately...access to the core.
I am in the process of starting a new job and have been really pressed for time so I am obviously behind being that I'm posting this week 3 update after week 4.
Here is my rendition of breakout. I wanted to add a little urgency to the game so I incorporated a closing door similar to the classic Textris.
I'm not sure how to build the game so that it is in widescreen format as everytime I build it cuts out the side walls, but you can get a good look at what it is supposed to look like from the screen shot above.
Being that I have been so pressed for time, this game is not finished. I haven't had time to clamp the user bar as well as a few other finishing touches that I haven't gotten around to, and there are also some bugs here and there, but I figured I'd post an update as soon as I could. Check it out at the link below!
UPDATE! Here is a working link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24862693/Unity/Unity.html
After learning the basics and playing around with the basic aspects of playmaker, I took my static scene and added some life to it. I wanted to play around with depth and perspective, which explains all the different ships moving in different directions and velocities. You can check it out at the link above.
In the screen shot above you can take a look at some of the work i did to make the alien probe appear to float. I am a beginner to all of this and have no designing background at all so I would love to hear any thoughts or suggestions! Looking forward to lesson 3!
Here is a quick screen shot of the "Ancient Runway"
I just threw this together with some basic concepts learned in lesson 1.
