Nancy's Influence Map

This was an interesting project for me - I didn't totally realize that a lot of the media that influenced me are stories of magical things happening or people using their imagination to change their current situation. Great way to discover some underlying themes that appeal to me!

1. Eloise books - I loved that this little girl took of the Chase Park Plaza in NYC with her sassy pug!!

2. Chris Van Allsburg books - The illustrations in this book, as well as The Polar Express and Jumanji always really appealed to me

3. A Little Princess - I liked that the main character brought hope and happiness to everyone she met, and always wanted to help others.

4. Tap Dogs - As a kid I loved dancing and theater of all kinds - and I found the skill and creativity of this group inspiring

5. Peter Pan - Had this movie on repeat as a kid. My favorite thing about this movie was this family living such a fancy life - and the parents completely oblivious to the adventures of their kids

6. Bette Midler - I had this tape and would listen to it over and over making up dance moves, not sure where it came from or even why I liked it. Super random, but it sticks out in my mind very vividly.

7. Pippi Longstocking - Obsessed with her early in life, I thought it would be so cool to have my own house to slide down stair banisters and make pancakes whenever I pleased. In this movie, the adults have absolutely no idea what to do with this child, but she makes everyone around her happy.

8. Strega Nona - This book is one of my favorites because of the illustrations as well as the story - that knowing only some information is almost worst than knowing none of it. True in many scenarios.
