I understand mindfulness as a state of increased awareness of one internal or external activity or scenario.
Edit: I better understand that mindfulness occurs in the present and not the past. I have now learnt about the practical uses of mindfulness in improving focus. I have learnt to implement it in my daily life to enter a flow state which helps me to achieve the goals that really matter. I have learnt that it can be used to redirect focus from overthinking and generally thinking negatively to the present moment, which makes me more content about my mental state. This also helps me realise the futility of such thoughts and how they only negatively impact me in the present. Even though these thoughts can still come and go I hope that moving forward I can better direct my mental energy to the things that will make me happier and confident in the long run.
