My inspirational quote on a map for my drawings and letterings!

Hi everyone!

On this project page I would like to share my project on making a map for my creative work with an inspiring quote!

The quote I choose is: "It takes courage to grow up & become who you really are."

I figured a mountain in the background fits nicely and inhence to meaning of my quote. The other illustrations will be decoration and will reflect me. I'll be using flowers and a hippie symbol. :D

The overal lettering will have a dreamy, hippie style with cheerful, girly colors.

I started with underlining the most important words and sketching my thumbnails till I came across a layout that I liked.

After that I used my ruler and made lots of guidelines so I could easily center my words and place them in my layout. My map is a bit bigger than an A4sized paper sheet. So luckily it wasn't to hard to do my sketching.

After being satisfied with my sketch on my map, I made the lines thicker and darker with a softer pencil so my sketch is pretty good visible underneath a few layers of acrylic paint.

Painting my map took my 2 days. I love how cute and cheerful my map has become. It was precisely the style I had in mind. I have an extra map (I bought 2 so I would have a spare one if the first would fail) and I'm thinking of making another one with a different quote. Not sure about that yet tho but I think it's pretty addictive :D

If you're willing to take your time with painting your letterings in acrylic paint, I think it's very rewarding and inspiring. If something or some color doens't work you can always paint over it. And you can do a lot with your colors and detail in this medium.

Let me know what you think of my project and the first class I made please! I would love to hear from you! <3
