My go at this rhino

My go at this rhino - student project

Well, this is my try. I've been working with watercolors for about 5 months now, and mostly working with loose florals, as there's a lot more room for mistakes there. This is my first try with an animal. I didn't really want to paint it - rhino's are not my cup of tea, to be honest, - but decided it's worth a try. I didn't regret it, this one turned out to be an interesting experience.

I think I lack speed, and maybe my paints are staining a bit much for my liking - it was hard to do anything here once the paint was on the dry side. Also, it's VERY hard for me NOT to cover everything with paint XD

I really liked this course, because it uses the same exercises, but presents them in a different way, which is more interesting for me. Doing graded washes? OK... Doing graded washes on koi? Count me in! (BTW, I think that the yellow one looks the best)

I also learned a bit more about my brushes, as it turned out that some of my synthetic brushes do pick up pigment, but are not as eager as others to give it back. An interesting and useful observation, thanks for the excersise.

Thanks for the lessons!
