My first landscape! Plus a few more

My first landscape! Plus a few more - student project

This class inspired me to tackle my first landscape.  Thisis from a picture I took in the English countryside a few years ago.  I haven't been painting very long, but have discovered I definitely lean towards a more realistic style and am trying to push myself to embrace more abstract techniques.  Not sure I managed that with this one.  I'd like to maybe try painting the same scene again with a time limit so I can't get derailed by focusing too much on all the small details.

Edited: have done a few more landscapes since taking this class.  4 of them I used only palette knives and a 30 minute time limit and found this to be really freeing.    The last one is from a time exercise where we "copied" another painting.  The one with hills and bushes/flowers was from a photo reference.
