My cute little hedgehog

Hi everyone,

this is a sample project so you know how you can structure your project. This way you will get the most out of this class ;) Yay!

Experimentation and your creativity are more than welcome!

1. UNDERSTANDING CUTENESS

The whole thing started with random sketches to see what actually makes something cute. If you are interested in a more scientific explanation, looking up the Kindchen Schema or baby schema is something for you.

This was just a fun little exercise of pushing these guidelines. The exaggeration of size and distance really can be used either way. Very close, very far away, very big, very small. Have some FUN :)

2. FINAL SKETCH

02b4da28

I created this sketch with technique A, by drawing the outer shape first and then adding elements like the chin, eyes and nose.

You can keep this step really simple as it will be painted over.

3. WIP

Here I have put down all the base colours that will be the undercoat for my next layers. The opacity of my gouache colours has covered the pencil lines completely. That's why I left the eyes and nose area white at first and later filled them in with their darker colour.

You will learn those little tricks the more you paint and find your own routine :)

4. FINAL PIECE

This is my final piece. it looks a bit darker here. I added some brush lettering that I scanned in and cleaned up with photoshop. This is not part of this class but can add a really nice touch.
