So it seems to me as though mindfulness is the ability to bring back the attention to whatever you were attending. The idea is not to develop some kind of unwavering focus, as that would lead to a "stiff" mind. The mind naturally wanders off into different directions, and actually this isn't a bad thing, as the "detours" my mind went on during the watching of this course were sometimes highly relevant to the topic and led me down a path of inquiry which very much deepened understanding of this stuff. The idea behind mindfulness training is becoming quick and efficient in recognising this wandering and bringing the attention back if desired. Really it's an incredible ability to develop.
