My New Brand Identity

Originally, I was going to update my existing logo for my Graphic Design studio, which I've had for a number of years and is sorely in need of refreshing.

But I also have a second business name I have been holding onto that would work better with a typographic logo. So I decided to work on this one instead. This one will be for my Illustration and hand lettering work.

Here is my Mood Board with my "tears," my inspiration for the "look & feel" I'm hoping my logo will have.

I started out playing with a lot of different fonts, all in lower case (1 & 2), then some in mixed case (3) to find a "base" as Ray did in the videos.

I think the hardest part is that the letterforms of the words are not making the most interesting shapes and ligatures. There is no T to form a nice crossbar, and the "a" at the end of "paula" is not playing well with the "i" of "ink."

Sketches. Aaaaahhhhh!! NOT working!!!

I next tried separating the words and moving the letters around. It's getting a little better. Don't think I'm going to make the deadline for tonight, but will get it in for the 30-day Challenge. Too many other projects and work got in the way at the end of this week. At least I made some money! :-)

Still playing with these. Will print out and sketch over them, then vectorize favorite(s).

I couild definitely use some HELP and feedback! This is being a tough one for me! Thanks!

OK, I'm getting closer. Here's more sketches. I've circled the one I'm going to develop more.

So I think I'm pretty happy with this version. I flipped it backwards like Ray said to do, and I don't see any glaring problems with spacing, etc. Yay! So on to the shading.
