My 14 day or rather 16 day challenge

My 14 day or rather 16 day challenge - student project

I started this challenge, because I was feeling uninspired and unmotivated to draw everyday, even though I really want to improve and become good at it.

I do not know what or how I wanted to draw before this challenge, I just ke

pt drawing objects in more of a realistic way, but after after finishing this challenge I know that I want to experiment more with abstractness.

I'd like to thank you Marie for sparking more joy into drawing for me. I am still not too motivated, but it feels better now, and I am starting to enjoy even the process, not just the result (like I did before).

Day 1 - Journey

For this day, I was thinking about a portal to another location or dimension, maybe to a more sunny or warm one, since it's so cold here in Denmark.

I drew the black thick whatever with a brush pen and I saw a little creature inside it, so that's what I decided to turn it into.

Day 3 - Feelin' a bit slow

It was really hard for me to draw slowly, since I am always living in the fast lane. I had trouble making smooth lines and such with slow motions, but this exercise gave me a little bit of practise.

Day 4 - Shake it up!

I thought this drawing would come out much more differently than it did. It was supposed to look as if there's a whole lot of life coming out of that one little root in the ground. But since I didn't have other colours than black and greys, it ended up looking like a dying plant instead.

Day 5 - Metamorphosis

I really liked the concept of this drawing. But the realisation that I did not so much. Still I kept it, because usually I get rid of the drawings I don't like and forget all about them, about the mistakes I did.

Day 6 - Metamorphosis #2

I guess I could say the same thing about this one as I did for the one above.

Day 7 - Crowd of creatures

I wanted to make creatures which are non-existent. Some that would live in caves and scare the visitors. Also I was a little bit inspired by No Face from Spirited Away or whatever his name was.

Day 8 - Colors & more colors

Wow. I have 2 colours of markers except for greys. I tried to use both of them as well as the white (or well, eggshell I think) of the paper. My whole day was a little bit sluggish, I did only a little bit of things I was supposed to do, while laying in my bed. I felt like I melted into my bed, thus the bed melts as well.

Day 9 - Flatten it out

My whole day was about bikes. So the theme was already chosen for me. I tried to make the lines as straight as I could and it kinda worked out.

Day 10 - Thread

I was looking through my anatomy sketchbook today and wanted to practice a little. So i drew a thread lady.

Day 11 - Tranform me

So, which one should I transform? Of course the metamorphosis one. I didn't like it when I finished drawing it, and I didn't like until I transformed it. I tried to make it more flowy, detailed and add a little bit of colour. In the end I think it worked out. I like it quite a bit more now.

Day 12 - Structure

I like lighthouses. I guess that's it?

Day 13 - Take 2

I bought watercolours! Finally some other colours than blue and purple. I don't have the right paper for them, but still, yay!

I chose the themes of Cloudwatching and Take It Slow for this day. So I took some time to get used to the watercolours and slowly watched what I created. I found a bunch of flowers in the painting, so I made them more apparent with a fineliner.

Day 14 - Texture

Last day and I feel much better, than when I started. I feel a little bit more motivated to draw.

This is the texture of my door that I used.

In the end, I'd like to thank you very much for this class. Over the course of 16 or something days (I skipped a few due to school) you changed my view on creating art, I was very inspired by your artwork and I want to try and be more like you, explore the art world and start enjoying it more and more.

Thank you and have a nice day everyone!
