Multiplying My Muscles

For the past 6 years, I've taught math in inner city schools. I became proficient at taking care of everyone but myself.

I put on weight, was overworked, stressed out and very unhappy. :( I tried to make everyone think I was happy:

One year ago I began running. I've run 5ks up to half marathons. I love running, but it's not helped me with my weight loss goals like I had hoped.

Finishing my first 5k in over 10 years:

3 months ago I began lifting heavy things and it's done some awesome things already.

Being a math teacher, I like things I can measure. Keeping that in mind, here are my goals:

By June 1 I will (Current/Goal):

  • Bench Press: 100lbsx5 -> 135lbsx5
  • Squat: 185lbsx5 -> 225lbsx5
  • Deadlift: 235lbsx5 -> 315lbsx5
  • Waist at belly button: 35" -> 32"
  • Multiply my muscles!!! Which is the reason why I'm not including a weight goal. :D

To accomplish this I will:

  • lift 3x/week
  • run 3x/week (2 short runs, 1 long run)
  • weigh all of my food and log in MyFitnessPal
  • record all of my measurements on the 1st of each month and take front and side progress pictures

About to squat 185lbs:

Bonus Goal: Find a powerlifting gym and a coach and complete in a powerlifting competition by the end of 2013.
