Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

I have finally chosen a book for this project and it's called Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. Honestly, I've never heard of Robin Sloan before, but seeing this book on the rack with its jovial yellow and also the title, pulled me closer to the book (I literally moved myself toward the book) and so I read the synopsis and reviews, and cha ching...money went out from my pocket and into the bookstore's cash register.

Something about the name Mr. Penumbra and 24-Hour Bookstore makes my curious blood flowing in my veins because I've never been to any bookstore that opens for 24 hours. It feels a little surreal, somewhat secretive and also full of fantasies. Cannot wait to read the book...

Here's from the back of the book:

The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon away from life as a San Francisco web-design drone and into the aisles of Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. But after a few days on the job, Clay discovers that the store is more curious than either its name or its gnomic owner might suggest. The customers are few, and they never seem to buy anything--instead, they "check out" large, obscure volumes from strange corners of the store. Suspicious, Clay engineers an analysis of the clientele's behavior, seeking help from his variously talented friends. But when they bring their findings to Mr. Penumbra, they discover the bookstore's secrets extend far beyond its walls. Rendered with irresistible brio and dazzling intelligence, Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore is exactly what it sounds like: an establishment oyu have to enter and will never want to leave.
