Here's my first notebook... Definitely needs improvement, but I'm glad with my first attempt! I also decided to try a slightly different way where I utilized 3 different pieces of board (2 for the cover and 1 for the spine). They are all cut separately and a bit spaced a part, then covered with the moon paper. This gives a nice spine, and the creases at the spaces left in between the boards is reminisicent to a real book.
For the end pages, I picked out a sparkly, golden paper that I thought matched really well with the moon's cheeks. And I thought it would be cool to have sparkly insides, since the moon lights up the night sky :)
I ended up binding 50 sheets of paper together in A5 format. Here is another view of the spine I mentioned. I made the cover boards slightly larger than the pieces of paper so that when placed in a backpack, the edges would not get bent or destroyed.
The main thing I had trouble with was gluing the decorative paper onto the board. Maybe I applied too much glue? You can't tell from the photo, but I have a lot of wrinkles! I tried to smooth them up but it just ended up scrunching them together towards the edges... Any tips on this? Should I apply less glue?
I guess I should note I was unable to purchase PVA glue. I recently moved to Germany (and my Deutsch is not so good) so to be honest, I had no idea what kind of glue I purchased from the label! It's a bit of a thick white glue that looked and smelled liek Elmer's glue, and came in a tin can... Any suggestions on how to apply it perfectly would be great!
